Traffic Reduction Act

TRA - Proposal

The Traffic Reduction Act proposed by (I) Alexander Chehade. This details what to expect in the proposed bill to be submitted to Arizona's Legislature under a Gov. Alexander Chehade administration.

This Act sets to reduce metropolitan traffic within Arizona. Excessive vehicle use needs to be limited, azmvdnow.gov and arizona 511 will provide access to all motorists to register for excessive vehicle usage.

All 15 counties will have their current status, designed as "Active Status" available on azmvdnow.gov and via 511 or 1-888-411- ROAD (1-888-7623) for out of state motorists. These sources should be available for all motor traffic in Arizona.

Active Status: Using a method reflecting traffic lights, "Green" will indicate the county (or city) has no restrictions to excessive vehicle usage. "Flashing Yellow" will indicate that the county (or city) is intending to shift to "Yellow" status or "Red" status in it's next update and may have notes listed along with the status. "Yellow" indicates that excessive vehicle usage is prohibited, except for motorists previously registered for usage. "Red" indicates that motorists only operate their vehicles for commercial use and immediate needs, such as food access or parental care (i.e. doctor's appointments, emergency room visits, etc).

Excessive Vehicle Usage: This is defined as personal transportation that does not include vehicle use for communiting to school or work, food access, medical transport, or general care for a child.

Exemptions: Motorists over the age of 55, parents/guardians in care of a child, homeless, and disabled motorists are generally exempt from restrictions proposed in this act. However, everyone is encouraged to follow the active status for their respective county or city.
